Built-ins
I’m always incorporating built in cabinetry and shelving to redundant alcoves in a home. Quite the contrary to making a room feel smaller, they actually give a feeling of space, height - if cleverly designed, and somewhere for things to be stored that otherwise might be clutter in the room
Of course they’re also fun to style and display pieces you love. Wallpapering or painting the wall behind the open shelving gives interest and some texture in patterned paper. A great carpenter will bring your drawing to life and you’ll most definitely wonder why you hadn’t added these years ago
